In 2019, Shree Gaurishankhar Secondary School was partially buried by mudslides due to the heavy rainfall. School attendance was made impossible for the 250 students from kindergarten to 10th grade. The villagers and their School Management Committee asked Chay Ya for help and we managed to organize donors to finance the construction of three new classrooms.

In January, 2020, the foundation stone was laid and construction progressed quickly until the Covid-19 crisis brought it to a temporary halt in March. Still, with some months delay, in November 2020 the opening ceremony could take place and the new building now offers the children a safe learning space. Classes have been resumed without further a-do by the happy students.
