In order to fulfil the obligations enshrined in Nepal’s new constitution to guarantee citizens’ access to clean water and sanitation, and to meet the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and the Sectoral Development Plan, a systematic, long-term plan is required in every Palika. The implementation of WASH services to meet the WASH goals can be based on a WASH plan that considers disaster preparedness and adaptation to climate change. In this respect, the WASH plan is the resource planning tool for sustainable development of the WASH sector at local level. It will provide resources for the short, medium and long-term development and implementation of the WASH sector in order to achieve the WASH objectives set out in the SDP and SDG.

Four WASH plans has been developed for four municipalities. This plan will be the basic information for the urban and rural communities for planning new projects and their implementation.

Activities include collecting N-WASH application data, preparation of a WASH plan for four Palikas, preparation of a WSP plan for six water plans, declaration of six municipalities on water safety.
