In October 2025, continuous heavy rainfall caused severe flooding across Garuda, Durgabhagwati, and Rajdevi Municipalities in Rautahat District of Madhesh Province. Overflowing rivers and drainage channels submerged homes and farmland, disrupted transportation, and placed significant strain on essential services. Hundreds of families were displaced, and health facilities—particularly those providing maternal and newborn care—faced major disruptions.

In response, Chay Ya Nepal implemented a rapid humanitarian relief intervention to address the immediate needs of flood-affected communities, with a particular focus on pregnant and lactating mothers and other vulnerable households.

The project reached 225 flood-affected households and 40 pregnant and lactating mothers across the three municipalities. Relief distribution was carried out in close coordination with local governments, ward offices, health facilities, and community volunteers, ensuring transparent and equitable delivery of assistance.

Relief materials included food items, bedding and mattresses, baby blankets and baby items, nutritious food for pregnant and lactating mothers, pressure cookers, and hygiene supplies. These essential items helped restore basic safety, dignity, and daily living conditions for families affected by the floods.

This emergency response was made possible through the generous support of Karl Zünd Stiftung, Hil foundation, Chay Ya Austria, Chay Ya Liechtenstein, and private donors, whose solidarity enabled timely assistance and brought stability and renewed hope to flood-affected communities in Rautahat District.
