Four-Room School Building Constructed in Danda Arma with Support from Chay-Ya Nepal

A newly constructed four-room school building at Saraswati Secondary School in Danda Arma, Ward No. 10 of Sanibheri Rural Municipality, Rukum West, was officially inaugurated and handed over. The building was constructed with financial support from Chay-Ya Nepal under the Earthquake Recovery Program.
After the school building was damaged in the earthquake of Kartik 17, 2080 (November 3, 2023), students faced difficulties in continuing their education. To address this, a total of NPR 7,807,499 was mobilized for the reconstruction:
• Chay-Ya Nepal contributed 80% – NPR 6,075,999
• Sanibheri Rural Municipality contributed 17% – NPR 1,293,275
• School’s labor contribution (3%) – NPR 228,325
According to Chay-Ya Nepal’s Karnali Province Manager, Min Bahadur Rawal, the building agreement was signed on Jestha 25, 2081 (June 8, 2024), and construction began on Ashadh 29, 2081 (July 13, 2024). The project was completed within 9 months and included desks, benches, and whiteboards in all four rooms.
Manager Rawal also shared that Chay-Ya Nepal had previously built two four-room blocks at Saraswati School after the earthquake and supported the construction of a school and drinking water system in Ghantana, as well as temporary toilets for 110 households in Ward No. 10.
At the handover ceremony, Chairperson of Sanibheri Rural Municipality, Birkha Bahadur Bista, thanked Chay-Ya Nepal for building the school when the government’s reconstruction work was delayed. He emphasized that beyond constructing the building, it is essential to improve the quality of education for children who will study in the new classrooms.
Vice-Chairperson Kamala Roka also stated that students should become well-disciplined and competitive, just like the newly built school. She encouraged teachers and parents to help students compete with those studying in well-equipped schools.
The handover ceremony was chaired by Ghamanda Bahadur Bk, Chairperson of the School Management Committee, with Sanibheri Chairperson Birkha Bahadur Bista as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included:
