Chhaya Nepal Provides Food Relief to Tulsipur Families

A total of 55 households in Ward No. 7 of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City received food relief packages. The distribution took place on Saturday in Kalakhola with financial support from Chay-Ya Nepal (Kathmandu), facilitated by Kamal Thapa, Executive Director of Chay-Ya Nepal, and local social worker Jagat Thapa of Tulsipur-7.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected employment worldwide, the relief targeted poor and marginalized families who lost their livelihoods. Approximately NPR 150,000 worth of food items including rice, lentils, salt, soap, and sugar were distributed.

Speaking at the event chaired by social worker Jagat Thapa, Ward No. 7 member Ram Bahadur GC expressed that Chay-Ya Nepal’s support had provided significant relief to daily wage earners during the COVID crisis.

The program was attended by Chhabi Neupane, Vice Principal of Kalakhola Secondary School; Shyam lal Pokhrel, a member of the School Management Committee; journalist Yamkala Bhusal; and Rita Thapa, a representative of the “Garib Sang Bisheshwar” program, among others.

The event was coordinated by social worker Chiranjeevi Regmi. Chay-Ya Nepal has long been working in the fields of education and health. The organization is currently operating relief distribution programs in 25 districts to support communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
