Hospital in Mugumkarmarong

Mugu:A community hospital has been established in Mugumkarmarong Rural Municipality. The hospital has been established with the objective of providing medical services to the villagers of Mugu, Reus, Dolfu, Pulu, Kimri, Takha, Khari, Puwa, Maha and Magri.

Treatment has been started from a six-bed hospital in Reus village. The hospital building was constructed with the support of Chay-Ya Nepal and Himali Rural Youth Society Development Centre. Rural municipality chair Tseringkapne Lama said the hospital has been set up to provide access to treatment to the residents of all the nine wards. According to him, in the absence of a well-equipped hospitals, patients had to walk for two days to reach the district hospital.

Gyaljan Lama of Reus village said that the compulsion to walk for two days to reach the district headquarters has ended after receiving treatment in the village. According to him, the locals has to loose their lives prematurely due to lack of easy treatment. “Many women have died in the past due to lack of delivery,” she said, adding, “Some were rescued by helicopter, now the services like pregnancy check-up and vaccination are available in the village.”

According to village executive member Angmu Lama, the locals were forced to depend on dhamijhankri in the absence of a hospital earlier. “It has now become easier for those suffering from various health problems to get treatment in the village,” she said.’

Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Bikash Sharma Rijal, said that six health workers have been deployed after the construction of the hospital building. He said that budget provision has been made to purchase medicines and necessary equipment at the hospital. According to him, the locals of Reus village has provided land free of cost for the construction of the hospital. “The establishment of the hospital has come as a big relief to the residents of remote villages,” he said, adding that the rural municipality would provide necessary support to provide universal and quality treatment.’

The organization had constructed a building with maternity services in a year. According to min Rawal, president of the hospital, rs 9.45 million has been spent for the construction of the hospital. According to him, 6,000 people from 1,300 households will be benefited from the hospital.
